American River Restoration III

Restoration Stories

Salmonid Habitat Restoration Project Construction – side channel and spawning. The project includes a widened floodplain, a new side channel, and new spawning habitat in the main river channel. We added large wood, willows, and boulders to provide better juvenile habitat at low flows. The lowered floodplain should be incrementally inundated as flows rise and naturally revegetate with willows in a couple of years. Learn More © John Hannon, US Bureau of Reclamation.
