Restoration Stories

In 2016, the Mattole Salmon Group installed 253 large wood pieces (many of which are whole trees) in the Mattole estuary for overwintering habitat and summer rearing cover structures, bringing up the total number of habitat structures to 453. Juvenile salmon have been observed using the cover. The Partners included BLM, DWR, SCC, DFW, USFWS, TNC, MRC, and a local landowner Michael Evenson. © Josh Madrone
