The Lake California project occurred during the winter of 2017/18. Snorkel surveys have shown that juvenile salmon have already returned to the side channel. Winter hydroseed application and plant plugs have grown into healthy sedges, willows, mulefat, and blue wild rye. The Sacramento River now flows freely, even at low levels, through the side channel at Lake California. The Resource Conservation District of Tehama County is responsible for environmental permitting and construction management. RD108 provided the manpower to run equipment for the project. Chico State Research Foundation is responsible for project management. Sacramento River Forum is responsible for outreach. Learn more here and here. © Resource Conservation District of Tehama County
