In 2014, the Scott River Watershed Council implemented the first beaver dam analogues (BDAs) in California. Research led by NOAA’s Northwest Fisheries Science Center on the impacts of the Scott River BDAs has shown the creation of excellent rearing habitat for juvenile coho and Chinook salmon, as well as significant groundwater recharge. Project collaborators include: NOAA, US Fish and Wildlife Service, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, the Coho Enhancement Fund, Bella Vista Foundation, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board, Siskiyou Resource Conservation District, Fiori GeoSciences, and Cascade Stream Solutions.
