The Nature Conservancy, with the California Department of Fish & Wildlife, National Marine Fisheries Service, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, have installed over 8.5 miles of fencing along Big Springs Ranch to exclude livestock from the creeks. Within one year, the aquatic vegetation rebounded and over 10 miles of cold water habitat for spawning and juvenile salmon were dramatically restored. © Chris Adams, CDFW
